This French Onion Chicken will become your newest weeknight obsession. It’s easy to make and sure to be a crowd pleaser! Juicy chicken breasts are topped with homemade French onion dip, caramelized onions, Gruyère cheese and crispy onions.

Why You’ll Love This French Onion Chicken

  • Quick & Easy – Ready in under an hour. It’s the perfect dish for busy weeknights.
  • Simple ingredients – You probably have most of the ingredients in your fridge/pantry making it easy to throw together.
  • Comfort food at its best – The creamy chicken and crunchy topping is the kind of comfort food that warms you up from the inside out.

What Kind of Chicken Should I Use?

For this recipe, I use thinly sliced chicken breasts. You can use whatever chicken you like best though – thighs, tenders or breasts will work.

What Should I Serve With French Onion Chicken?

Any vegetable side dish will work with this meal. I served simple sautéed green beans with ours. Steamed broccoli or roasted carrots would also be delicious.

Storage & Reheating Tips

Store – This French Onion Chicken can be refrigerated for up to 4 days. Once it cools, transfer to an airtight container and place in the fridge.

Reheat – You can either warm this chicken up in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or air fry it. I would suggest air frying for best results as it will crisp up the French fried onions. Air fry at 350 for 4-6 minutes.
