Hot Honey & Ricotta Deep Dish Sourdough Discard Pizza
My family's favorite pizza! Deep dish sourdough pizza made in a cast iron skillet with fresh basil, ricotta and a drizzle of hot honey. It's a party in your mouth!
Ingredients
Method
- Add the warm water & yeast into a large mixing bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes and then add in the salt, sugar, discard and oil.
- Turn the mixer on low and then slowly add in the bread flour, one cup at a time.
- Once the dough has formed, knead for 10 minutes. Cover the bowl and place somewhere warm to rise for at least 30 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
- While it is rising, place the cast iron skillet in the oven and preheat to 500 F.
- Once the dough has risen, use your hands to pull and stretch it into a large circle. Place the crust on a piece of parchment paper and place inside of the hot skillet.
- Par bake for 3 minutes.
- Remove from oven and add on the sauce, mozzarella cheeses, dallops of ricotta, pepperoni and sausage.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Top with fresh basil and a drizzle of hot honey.
